CHÂTEAU LÉOVILLE POYFERRÉ - 2D GRAND CRU CLASSÉ EN 1855

Key points

Son histoire

Léoville Poyferré embodies Médoc elegance with a touch of panache. Born in the 19th century from the division of a large estate — the famous "Léoville" — it has since established itself as one of the finest classified growths in Saint-Julien. The Cuvelier family has been at the helm since 1920.

Terroir

The well-drained gravel soils, gently brushed by the Garonne River, produce wines that are both powerful and silky. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the way with elegance, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a touch of Petit Verdot.

Character

It embodies the very essence of Saint-Julien: a model of balance where remarkable consistency and extraordinary aromatic finesse meet with precision and structure.

Its moment

Three grandiose vintages, three great moments and a wonderful tasting evening! Although Léoville Poyferré is a wine for ageing, it can also be enjoyed in its youth!

Twist

2010: the year Gérard Basset was rewarded Best Sommelier in the World.
2016: one of the greatest modern vintages.
2022: the new benchmark.

Perfect pairing

It pairs wonderfuly with roasted rack of lamb, duck with figs, or a well-aged Laguiole cheese.
